Modified Sigma 30mm Art Lens on the Sony A7 in Full Frame

Modified Sigma 30mm Art Lens on the Sony A7 in Full Frame after modifying the lens by removing the plastic baffle from the rear of the lens. 3 tiny screws, turn the lens over it and it will usually will fall out into your hand. I really only recommend doing this mod for Video, for Stills you'll get a more pronounced Vignette. We start the video with the lens stopped down to F8 then we show it opened all the way up to it's maximum aperture of F2.8 , don't bother doing this mod to a zoom it will have little to no effect.I've done this to 3 APS-C E Mount Prime's with varying success, the wider the lens the less successful. I've done the Sony 16mm F2.8 and the Sigma 60mm F2.8 Art lens as well as this one of course. I hope you found this information useful. Panasonic G7 and Sigma 19mm First Look at Mad Mohawk Films shooting 4K or more accurately Ultra High Definition or UHD this camera was bought for shooting video only to be honest. This is our first run at it and II see I need to experiment more with it as the color is a bit muted it looks good. Nice and sharp. It's an amazingly inexpensive pairing, the $599 G7 and the $199 Sigma 19mm. The included kit lens isn't bad either. We will be shooting more and more of our footage in 4K as we proceed. My Rode Reel 2016

Well I finally got around to shooting some footage and the behind-the-scenes for this years My Rode Reel 2016.Will be editing both the behind the scenes and the main footage over the next few days. It's Horror oriented that's about all I will say for now. It's somewhat comedic at least I hope it is if it's not I apologize. Luckily it's not overly long so even if it's not as good as I hope it shouldn't put anyone into a coma. So if you haven't started yours yet what are you waiting for Rode is very very generous to the Indy filmmaking community with this contest which is in its third year. If you decide to enter good luck break a leg and may the force be with you. We shot this years entry using 4K cameras for both the main footage and for the behind the scenes the main footage we shot with the Panasonic G7 and the behind the scenes shot with the Panasonic LX 100 with that gorgeous Leica lens.

MXL 990 Mic pitting the Blue Icicle Versus Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

Do you need a high end DAC interface for your Large Diaphragm Condensor Microphones or can you get away with a less expensive one? Watch this video and you may find your answer. I put the inexpensive Blue Icicle interface against the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, the Scarlett is three times the price of the Icicile but does it preform three times better? Have a listen for yourself and make your own decision. Best to listen via headphones to avoid missing any subtle differences.I use the MXL 990 mic on both interfaces. I used Poser to create this lip synched talking head but seem to have buggered it up somewhere along the way alas.I used the Wingard Popgard Pop filter on the MXL 990 to try to avoid any plosives.

Think you need expensive lights? Think again.

Think you need an elaborate lighting setup to shoot video? Think again, in this video I use 2 inexpensive LED lights run off batteries. The Neewer CN-160 is one of them, set 45 degrees off to my right, Cost $26 or so, I used one of the included color gels to warm the image. The other is applied head on, a BestLight Ring48 ring light on the end of the Sigma 60mm F2.8 Art Lens on a Sony A7, also with a warming color filter on it. No opther lights were on in the studio. I think it looks pretty good, hopefully you agree. Below is the 2 Lights in action.

Sony A7 Full Frame Vs Crop Frame in Video mode and more

I was curious wether there was any difference shooting 1080P video on the A7 in Crop mode Vs Full Frame Mode so shot this video. I'll let you guys decide what you think. I shot the entire video using a modified Sigma 60mm F2.8 Art Lens. I shot wide open and at 1/50 shutter speed. After comparing Full Frame to Crop Mode I then grabbed a Vivitar .43 Wide Angle Adapter and screwed it onto the end of the lens and compared again. The video with this adapter is remarkably good. Again I'll let you make your own decision of course.

Dual System Sound with the Audio Technica ATR-2500 Microphone

Our latest video features me shooting with my Sony A5100 with the Sigma 60mm F2.8 lens on it and recording Dual System Sound directly into Apple's GarageBand using an Audio-Technica ATR-2500 Large Condenser Super Cardiod Mic. This mic has a built in USB interface which removes the need for Phantom Power. Most microphones of this type require 48 Volt's of Phantom Power. Enjoy
