Sony SAL50mm F1.8 Vs Canon 50mm F1.8 STM on the Sony A7
Sony SAL50mm F1.8 Vs Canon 50mm F1.8 STM on the Sony A7 pitting these 2 inexpensive lenses against each other on the Sony A7 in Full Frame mode. Both are adapted lenses both are inexpensive. The Sony LA-EA4 adapter in Video mode with Auto Focus alas maxes out on Aperture at F3.5 whereas the Commlite adapter with the Canon EF lens will let you shoot video in Auto Focus mode all the way down to F1.8 on this lens. The LA-EA4 in Manual focus mode wlll let you shoot at F1.8 on this lens tho and in Stills mode as well Autofocus down to F1.8 is possible.

Asahi Pentax 110 24mm F2.8 on the Sony A7 in Crop and Full Frame mode
Going back into the Vintage Vault, trying out the Sony A7 with an old Asahi Pentax-110 24mm F2.8 lens. We shot in both Crop mode and Full Frame mode and the Full Frame mode vignette's suprsingly little. The Vignette is even less noticeable once we converted to 2.35:1 Aspect ratio. Not bad for a $30 or so Vintage lens. Shot the audio direct into the A7 using my Rode SmartLav+ into a converter. I used a single Neewer CN-160 LED light panel.

Sony A7 Full Frame Vs Crop Frame in Video mode and more
I was curious wether there was any difference shooting 1080P video on the A7 in Crop mode Vs Full Frame Mode so shot this video. I'll let you guys decide what you think. I shot the entire video using a modified Sigma 60mm F2.8 Art Lens. I shot wide open and at 1/50 shutter speed. After comparing Full Frame to Crop Mode I then grabbed a Vivitar .43 Wide Angle Adapter and screwed it onto the end of the lens and compared again. The video with this adapter is remarkably good. Again I'll let you make your own decision of course.

Canon 35mm F3.5 FD Lens adapted for use on the Sony A7
Another foray into the Vintage Vault. This time a Canon 35mm F3.5 FD Lens adapted to use on the Sony A7 Full Frame Camera. Shot at F11 to avoid any depth of field issues. Perhaps another day I'll shoot it wide open so you can checkout the Bokeh :-)
Sound is done via the Rode SmartLav+ plugged into an adapter then directly into the Sony A7's Mic input. This same adaptr will allow me to plug my iRig Pre into it then into the Sony A7 allowing me to use XLR microphones including those requiring upto 48 Volt Phantom Power like the Audio Technica AT2020 so keep an eye out for that on an upcoming segment.

Concentrating on Vintage glass
Good evening folks, we've been concentrating on Vintage Glass lately. So many inexpensive fast primes out there that are easily adaptable to other systems makes it easy to build a nice set of primes fairly inexpensively piece by piece. Our next video will likely be no exception, more than likely it will be a Vivitar 135mm F2.8 in Canon FD mount. Most of my vintage primes are Canon FD mount in fact tho I have adapters for Nikon, Pentax-110 and even C mount. Hoping to fill the holes in my Canon FD mount prime collection but patience is needed to find them at good prices. For example lately I've been pricing 85mm primes....... So far it's looking more cost effective to get a used Rokinon 85mm than a vintage one which kinda bugs me out. Having a vault full of vintage is NICE tho and of course once I've got a complete set I'm sure then the bug to get the fastest primes will take over. Keep your lenses in good shape they'll last a long long time and continue to produce stunning images.
