Modified Sigma 30mm Art Lens on the Sony A7 in Full Frame

Modified Sigma 30mm Art Lens on the Sony A7 in Full Frame after modifying the lens by removing the plastic baffle from the rear of the lens. 3 tiny screws, turn the lens over it and it will usually will fall out into your hand. I really only recommend doing this mod for Video, for Stills you'll get a more pronounced Vignette. We start the video with the lens stopped down to F8 then we show it opened all the way up to it's maximum aperture of F2.8 , don't bother doing this mod to a zoom it will have little to no effect.I've done this to 3 APS-C E Mount Prime's with varying success, the wider the lens the less successful. I've done the Sony 16mm F2.8 and the Sigma 60mm F2.8 Art lens as well as this one of course. I hope you found this information useful. Sony SAL50mm F1.8 Vs Canon 50mm F1.8 STM on the Sony A7

Sony SAL50mm F1.8 Vs Canon 50mm F1.8 STM on the Sony A7 pitting these 2 inexpensive lenses against each other on the Sony A7 in Full Frame mode. Both are adapted lenses both are inexpensive. The Sony LA-EA4 adapter in Video mode with Auto Focus alas maxes out on Aperture at F3.5 whereas the Commlite adapter with the Canon EF lens will let you shoot video in Auto Focus mode all the way down to F1.8 on this lens. The LA-EA4 in Manual focus mode wlll let you shoot at F1.8 on this lens tho and in Stills mode as well Autofocus down to F1.8 is possible. First Look at the Neewer Timer and Remote Release on the Sony A7

First Look at the Neewer Timer and Remote Release on the Sony A7 having a quick look at a new item we've gotten in, I didn't want to spend the money on the Time Lapse App for the Sony A7 as I saw this was available for a wee bit more. It's marked as working with the A7 Series as well as the A6000 and I'm happy to say it works fine on my A7 and even on my A5100 which was a nice suprise. At some point in the future I'll revisit this with a Time lapse on the A7 and/or the A5100 . This device functions fine as a Shutter release without having to put batteries in but to use the Time Lapse function requires battery power in the form of 2 AAA's I beieve it was about $22 and I like the fact that I can use on multiple camera's Please give this a thumbs up and subscribe to our channels it helps us keep bringing new videos to you. Sony A Mount 50mm F1.8 on the A7 shot in Full Frame

Sony A Mount 50mm F1.8 on the A7 shot in Full Frame Mode, I always forget that the Maximum Aperture on the LA-EA4 in Video mode is F3.5 so as usual say I have the Lens wide open at F1.8 which is simply untrue. It's an inexpensive lens. Tho designed for APS-C camera's it seems to cover the Full Frame quite well. I only just got this lens so will have to shoot some photo's with it at various apertures to test further but thus far think it was a fine purchase for a paltry $70. If you enjoyed this Video please give it a Thumbs up and please subscribe so you can see each new video as it becomes available as well as automatically be entered into any GiveAway's we run throughout the course of the year. Rode SmartLav+ Vs MXL FR 310 Shotgun Mic

Rode SmartLav+ Vs MXL FR 310 Shotgun Mic having a shootout in the studio. Lavalier Mic Versus Shotgun Mic. Which Sounds better in the studio, does it matter. Always best to let YOUR ears be your guide. Both these microphones retail for around the same price of $100 or so. I purposely left the Signal boost of the Shotgun Mic OFF to make it more of an apples to apples comparison. Please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe Checkout our website at http://www.madmohawkfilms.com Thanks for visiting! MXL FR-310 Vs Takstar SGC-598 Shotgun Mic head to head

MXL FR 310 Vs Takstar SGC 598 Shotgun Mic head to head some might say it's not fair pitting a $25-$40 Mic against a Mic that sells for $99-$150 but both are within reach of most filks. Is there a clear winner? Thats for YOU to decide for yourself. I simply provide quick samples in the studio for you to listen to both and make a decision yourself. Both Mics were setup similarly, notch filter on and no Signal Boost. mounted on the Sony A7 and plugged directly into it. The camera and Shotgun Mics were about 6 feet away. Sorry for the interruptions and lost train of thought, the fibers of the cheap wig were getting in my mouth. I paid $26 for the Takstar and I think the average price for the MXL is about $99. Should we do another quick video outdoor? MXL 770 microphone on Sony A7 via iRig Pre

MXL 770 on Sony A7 via iRig Pre test , today we give this combination a listen and see how good, bad or UGLy it sounds. I've been pretty happy thus far with the MXL microphones I've used thus far but you never know when a lemon will sneak in. I got this mic via a bulk buy using the website MassDrop, saved a BUNDLe off of Sam Ash's SALE PRICE of $118 snagging it for a paltry $65 tho to be honest I've seen it on Amazon for about $80. They seem to have a myriad of different goodies there so likely this won't be my last purchase from them. Nope NOT being paid by them, just a Happy Pappy. The more $$ I can keep in my pocket when I buy stuff the better. Checkout our Store at http://store.madmohawkfilms.com as well as our Blog at http://blog.madmohawkfilms and of course our Home on the Web at http://www.madmohawkfilms.com Thanks to the City of Montreal for the recent hospitality and espescially to the friendly folks in the Gay Village in Montreal. Asahi Pentax 110 24mm F2.8 on the Sony A7 in Crop and Full Frame mode

Going back into the Vintage Vault, trying out the Sony A7 with an old Asahi Pentax-110 24mm F2.8 lens. We shot in both Crop mode and Full Frame mode and the Full Frame mode vignette's suprsingly little. The Vignette is even less noticeable once we converted to 2.35:1 Aspect ratio. Not bad for a $30 or so Vintage lens. Shot the audio direct into the A7 using my Rode SmartLav+ into a converter. I used a single Neewer CN-160 LED light panel. Irig Pre on Sony A7 with Audio Technica AT-2020 Mic

Trying out the iRig Pre microphone Preamp with an Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condensor Mic plugged into it. The iRig Pre uses a 9 volt battery to provide Phantom Power to XLR mic's requiring it and that Power can be turned on and off. I used my Tokina ATX 28-70mm F2.8 Lens owith the Sony LA-EA4 adapter onto the Sony A7 to shoot this with the Lens set to 70mm and wide open at F2.8 with an shutter speed of 1/50. Love my Vintage Lenses :-) The iRig Pre is designed for use with Tablet's and Smartphone and so must be adapted to use direct into a Camera. Some people choose to modify the iRig Pre itself tho I prefer to use an adapter like the Rode SC3 I use for my Rode SmartLav+

Having a listen to the Tascam DR-22WL on the Sony A7

In our latest episode we take a listen to the quality of the audio of the relatively new Tascam DR-22WL digital recorder. From our use thus far it appears to be a nice upgrade from using the Zoom H1, it also seems much more solidly built and suffers much less from handling noise issues. So have a listen and hopefully it helps your decision on wether to pick one up or not.

Think you need expensive lights? Think again.

Think you need an elaborate lighting setup to shoot video? Think again, in this video I use 2 inexpensive LED lights run off batteries. The Neewer CN-160 is one of them, set 45 degrees off to my right, Cost $26 or so, I used one of the included color gels to warm the image. The other is applied head on, a BestLight Ring48 ring light on the end of the Sigma 60mm F2.8 Art Lens on a Sony A7, also with a warming color filter on it. No opther lights were on in the studio. I think it looks pretty good, hopefully you agree. Below is the 2 Lights in action.
