19" Fluorescent Ring Light

Taking a look at a generic 19" Ring light that uses a 5600 Degree Kelvin bulb rated at 75 wattsIt came with a nice diffuser that is attached to the ring via velcro and it throws a generous amount of light. The main section of the video was shot with the Ring Light on Full Power, about 4 feet from the subject, I used a 28-70mm F2.8 wide open at F2.8 and focal length of 50mm, Shutter speed of 1/50 and ASA/ISO 250. I also use a couple of non traditional lights during this video both with the ring light and by itself . I used my Rode SmartLav+ plugged into an adapter then directly into the Sony A7 and a Sigma 60mm F2.8 Art Lens in Full Frame mode hence the slight vignette in the corners. My choice of hats was unfortunate as here and there in the video you get an eye full of moire. While this is much more powerful than the Ring48 it's also NOT something you can use without power , better suited to use in the studio whereas the BestLight Ring48 can be run off 2 AA batteries. Canon 35mm F3.5 FD Lens adapted for use on the Sony A7

Another foray into the Vintage Vault. This time a Canon 35mm F3.5 FD Lens adapted to use on the Sony A7 Full Frame Camera. Shot at F11 to avoid any depth of field issues. Perhaps another day I'll shoot it wide open so you can checkout the Bokeh :-) Sound is done via the Rode SmartLav+ plugged into an adapter then directly into the Sony A7's Mic input. This same adaptr will allow me to plug my iRig Pre into it then into the Sony A7 allowing me to use XLR microphones including those requiring upto 48 Volt Phantom Power like the Audio Technica AT2020 so keep an eye out for that on an upcoming segment.

C Mount lens adapted for use on Sony NEX camera

I am pleasantly shocked that the Fujian 35mm C mount lens does not vignette on the Sony NEX series camera even tho it has an APS-C sized sensor which is many times the size of the 2/3" sensor this lens was designed for. A happy discovery to say the least. The Fujian 35mm F1.7 lens was under $30 and the adapter another $7 or so. Definitely a bargain for a fast prime lens that gives a nice look to footage.
