NGHTMRE’s latest hip-hop record just got a nasty rework.
NGHTMRE - though particularly known in the electronic music space for his explosive drops - is no stranger to hip-hop collaborations. In an EDM.com interview towards the end of 2018, NGHTMRE (real name Tyler Marenyi) revealed that he wants to actively bridge the worlds of hip-hop and electronic music, and that’s exactly what he has been doing. He has so far worked with artists such as PnB Rock, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Jon, A$AP Ferg and more recently Atlanta star Gunna on atmospheric vibe “CASH COW.”
In classic Marenyi fashion, he decided to offer a VIP version of the single, also enlisting producer BLVK JVCK. While the instrumental supporting Gunna’s bars starts off in a more mellow, nostalgic tone, the vibe quickly shifts to face-melting sound design, as distorted synths and heavy-hitting drums take over.
Marenyi blew up in 2015 off his now-classic single "Street," which was played by Skrillex at Ultra Music Festival. Several years later, he is one of bass music's favorites, collaborating with the likes of Dillon Francis, Flux Pavilion and Snails as well as headlining hundreds of shows and festivals each year. BLVK JVCK is the fresh project of Jermaine “Mayne Zayne” Jackson, who was previously part of hip-hop production duo The Runners, and had worked with the likes of Rihanna, Justin Bieber, DJ Khaled and Rick Ross.
