Ja Rule Drops "FYRE," a Song About the Festival of its Namesake

It's not lost on Ja Rule that the Fyre Festival brand still has some viral potential.

Last month Ja Rule had a weight lifted from his shoulders after his name was cleared from lawsuits against Fyre Festival's organizers. He isn't trying that hard to distance himself from the 2017 catastrophe, however, as he's now released a track titled "FYRE."

Loaded with overt references to "the greatest party that never happened," "FYRE" serves as a vehicle for Ja Rule (real name Jeffrey Atkins) to announce a 2020 album. The title is an anagram for "For Your Real Entertainment," and at present the song can only be heard in a video Atkins posted to Instagram.

Fyre Festival became the laughing stock of the entertainment world after ticket holders had been promised world-class entertainment, cuisine and lodgings only to be met with third-world living conditions upon arrival. The event's founder, Billy McFarland, was sentenced to six years in a federal prison on fraud charges last year.

Atkins has told fans to be on the lookout for new music on February 29th, 2020.
