Avicii's top-charting "Wake Me Up" is officially being recognized as one of the most streamed song of the past ten years. The news comes by way of Spotify's newly minted "Most Streamed Songs of the Decade" playlist. Fans can listen to the playlist featuring the top 50 most-streamed songs of the 2010s on Spotify.
Though the late Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) has been gone for a year and a half, the impact of his music continues to be felt. This week "Wake Me Up" was additionally featured as the top dance music song on the UK's Top 100 of the 2010s chart. The song is also featured on the newly minted Avicii Invector rhythm game.
The 2013 hit featuring Aloe Blacc has stood the test of time in the streaming era. The song, widely recognized as the first of its kind to blend contemporary country music with dance music, inspired a genre of its own and a generation of creators to follow.
The broader list features several dance music contributions including "Closer" from The Chainsmokers, "Summer" by Calvin Harris, and Seeb's remix of "I Took A Pill In Ibiza."
