The 2020 Grammy Awards' nominees in the dance/electronic field reflect shifts in EDM.
The Recording Academy has announced official nominees for the 62nd annual Grammy Awards, and electronic music is well represented. The 2020 nominees seem to indicate a trend away from the main stage-oriented sounds that dominated the market in recent years.
That's not to say some of EDM's familiar faces aren't included. Skrillex, Boys Noize and Ty Dolla $ign nabbed a nomination for "Midnight Hour," as did Flume for his Hi This Is Flume mixtape. They were joined, however, by more cerebral artists like Bonobo, The Chemical Brothers, RÜFÜS DU SOL and Tycho.
Last year's nominees included the likes of FISHER, Above & Beyond, Porter Robinson and Disclosure. In the end, Diplo, Dua Lipa and Mark Ronson took home the Grammy for Best Dance Recording for "Electricity," while Justice beat out everyone in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category for Woman Worldwide.
The 62nd annual Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on January 26th, 2020 and air on CBS. Find the full list of nominees here.
