This week, I had the opportunity to test out a new extension for Premiere Pro called Frame.io. This extension eliminates the need for third-party software by enabling clients to give timecode-based feedback that will directly import into the editor’s Premiere timeline.
I was very enthusiastic about this concept since I work as the Lead Editor of a Brooklyn-based post house, Senior Post, which focuses both on branded content as well as documentary and narrative films. As a result, our team spends a good deal of time communicating with a number of different directors and clients on a daily basis. Over the past week, I have been working with the owner of Senior Post, Josh Senior, to compare Frame.io to our current workflow.
The integration of Frame.io within Premiere is remarkably seamless.
Senior Post’s editorial workflow is very similar to the steps I encountered through the Frame.io extension. However, our current workflow involves the use of not just Premiere, but also uploads to Vimeo, communications with the client via email, and then the aggregation of feedback on an organizational website.
