Dillon Francis Leads Diplo's EDC Orlando Audience in "Happy Birthday" Rendition from Screen

Diplo apparently hates having "Happy Birthday" sung to him on his birthday.

Revelers who arrived early to watch Diplo close down the Kinetic Field main stage at EDC Orlando 2019 were treated to a special surprise on Sunday night. Before the Mad Decent label boss cued up his first track, a video of Dillon Francis singing him "Happy Birthday" played out on the big screen.

Francis appears to have recorded himself beforehand and arranged to have the clip played before Diplo (real name Thomas Wesley Pentz Jr.) began his set. "If I know my best friend like I think I know my best friend, he hates when people sing him happy birthday on his birthday," Francis says in the video. "So we're gonna do it right now, and we're gonna do it like cowboys, okay? Because he's my best friend cowboy."

Francis wasn't the only one to utilize onstage LED screens for mischievous purposes at this year's EDC Orlando. The previous day, ATLiens displayed the phrase "Epstein didn't kill himself" at the end of their own set.

Pentz and Francis also recently staged a prank in which the former artist appeared to have shared the latter's phone number via a Hollywood billboard.

With fourteen total tracks of action and emotion, Wandering the Abyss is a massive body of work, comprising eleven Deadzone originals featuring collaborations with Cult, XTALS, and Sibewest, as well as three additional remixes by Asteroid Afterparty, Cult, and Coro. Set aside some time to do something epic and play this album from start to finish.

Nick Hutchison A.K.A. Deadzone is a DJ and producer from Raleigh, North Carolina whose release history is rife with experiential and cinematic sounds. His recent work is inspired by old school dubstep producers such as Chrispy and Cyberoptics, and cinematic electronic artists such as Siren, Captain Panic!, and Varien.

#Modal is amazing me with their stuff. First the #Skulpt blew my mind now my #CraftSynth2 just arrived and since both are able to #Polychain I doubt I’ll buy another #Volca unless it’s a absolutely AMAZING. This wee little beastie sounds niiiiice as my Skulpt in Mono mode. Just arrived, even tho MONO using the Spread knob can get some delicious harmony and at $149.99 is kind of a deal. I grabbed mine off eBay $100 even bigger steal. Yes I WILL be checking if I can Polychain the Skulpt to the CraftSynth 2.

Tascam DR22WL and iPadOS 13

Sooooooo, yep under #IpadOS13 I plug this into #iPad via USB3 to Lightning adapter, pops up on the #Tascam #DR22WL screen asking “Bus Power” or “Storage” I hit storage and lo and behold a new device appears in the Files app called DR22WL. Even tho this unit has Bluetooth transfer built in no need to bother with that anymore as you can power and transfer data from it to #iPad easily!!!

Modal Skulpt and IK Multimedia Uno Drum a potent pair to jam with run straight into my Tascam DR-22WL digital recorder. Thanks to iPadOS 13 I simply plugged the MicroSD card into a card reader attached to Apple’s USB3 to Lightning adapter and copied the audio file over. Modal Skulpt Tiny Powerful Synth

The #Modal #Skulpt sounds GREAT but having to set MIDI filtering messages via app is a bit of a PITA. Drove me crazy why no notes were playing. The previous owner must have set to filter them out. If using USB MIDI it worked fine. Other than that minor issue it’s a winner. If Modal drops price a bit Korg will have a BIG little competitor as it has MIDI in and out as well as USB MIDI, sync in and out, decent sized knobs, 4 voices and ability to #polychain 4 Skulpt’s together without requiring any special cabling.
