Groove Cruise to Take Place on Biggest Ship Yet for 2020 California Sailing

The Norwegian Bliss boasts more square footage and cabins than any previous Groove Cruise vessel.

Groove Cruise, the original electronic music cruise ship festival, approaches an exciting milestone this year. The event brand's organizers have announced the 2020 California sailing will run from October 15th-18th, revealing that it will take place on The Norwegian Bliss - the largest ship in the history of the series.

Not only is it the 20-story vessel twice the size of any in Groove Cruise's 16-year history, it is the biggest that has ever been to California according to a Whet Travel statement. Atop The Norwegian Bliss will be a water park, go-kart track, and laser tag in addition to 30 restaurants and bars on a boardwalk.

Of course, that's not even mentioning the core entertainment offerings of the time-tested cruise ship festival. More than 60 artists representing every shade of the electronic music spectrum will provide 72 hours of nonstop music for revelers fortunate enough to attend.

Groove Cruise may be the crown jewel of Whet Travel as far as dance music fans are concerned, but the rapidly growing company boasts several other event brands. Over the past 16 years it has also grown to include Groove Island, Motorboat, Zen Cruise, and Salsa Cruise.

Headliners have yet to be announced for the 2020 California sailing. Tickets go on sale to the public March 4th, 2020. For more information, visit GrooveCruise.com.

Insomniac Announces Beyond Wonderland Event at The Gorge Amphitheatre

Insomniac is making good on its promise to bring Beyond Wonderland back to the Pacific Northwest.

Teased earlier this month, Beyond Wonderland's return to the Pacific Northwest is now confirmed. The new chapter of Beyond Wonderland will take shape at famed venue the Gorge Amphitheatre in the summer of 2020.

During his "State of Insomniac" address, Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella stated "It's been nearly a decade since Beyond Wonderland Seattle, but this year Beyond will return to the Pacific Northwest." It was speculated at the time of Rotella's comments that Beyond Wonderland could take at the Gorge, a venue the promotional giant has had in its sights.

The Gorge is significant in this case as it was the subject, in part, of a recent lawsuit filed by Insomniac against USC Events. Insomniac and USC were former partners in putting on Paradiso Festival, which also took place at the Gorge. Due to an alleged misuse of funds, the partnership has since gone awry, and now Insomniac is seeking judicial confirmation that they will be allowed to terminate their agreement and pursue having a festival of their own at the Gorge.

The announcement of Beyond Wonderland moving into the Gorge adds context to Rotella's recent remarks. The move also all but ensures Paradiso Festival will not return as USC Events allegedly does not have the express permission to use the trademark for the event.

Alison Wonderland and Said The Sky Tease Instrumental Collab

The two have started the writing process using their primary instruments of expertise.

Alison Wonderland and Said The Sky are working on a remix of sorts that will feature both classically trained musicians playing their instruments of choice. Alison Wonderland (real name Alexandra Sholler) took to social media to tease the idea. The upcoming project will be positioned as an outro on one of her songs.

Said The Sky (real name Trevor Christensen) confirmed that the idea is a work in progress. It is no secret to fans that both producers derive much of their inspiration from their trades of expertise. For this project, Christensen will write a piano outro with Sholler playing along on the cello.

Both artists have have been successful in incorporating live elements into their performances. Christensen has been known to bring a grand piano onstage while Sholler has brought a truly unique flair to her sets with cello performances.

At the time of writing it is unclear as to which of Sholler's songs will include the outro, but given she plans to test out new music at her forthcoming shows fans can likely look forward to an update soon.

Marshmello and SVDDEN DEATH Embark on Firey "Crusade" with New Release

Marshmello and SVDDEN DEATH's follow up does not disappoint.

The Marshmello and SVDDEN DEATH collaborative sequel has arrived. The two bass music tastemakers didn't hold anything back on the firey follow-up, unleashing their new release "Crusade" - a medieval-themed offering by all accounts.

It was just over a year ago that Marshmello and SVDDEN DEATH dropped a money bomb with their collaboration "Sell Out." Evidently the two were pleased by the grimey outcome, as were their fans, sparking interest in a sequel.

The two had no trouble conjuring up equally scathing bass lines on their dubstep "Crusade." Filled out by lingering strings and distorted horns, the single sets a medieval tone before ensnaring listeners in the throes of blaring bass.

The new release marks the first original of the year for both SVDDEN DEATH and Marshmello. Marshmello previously released remixes for his late 2019 single "Tongue Tied" featuring blackbear and YUNGBLUD.

Another compelling cut from Insomniac Records' In / Rotation imprint.

Hot on the heels of a prominent collaboration included on Bijou's latest EP, Unlocked Vol. 2, rising talent Ekonovah is adding fuel to the fire with his latest single, "Hit The Gas."

The cut is also proving itself a force on the airwaves, receiving notable support on Insomniac's Night Owl Radio, Alison Wonderland's Radio Wonderland, and on Spotify's House Werk playlist. With over 300,000 plays and counting, the record is not losing any traction and will undoubtedly gain speed as it heats up in the coming months.

Speaking on "Hit The Gas", Ekonovah touched on the ease of creating the house banger, saying, "... it's one of those tracks that you write in only a few sessions and then have almost no recollection of the process. I think my favorite part of the track is the 808 hits in the breakdown, something about them makes me feel like I am floating around in space and I love it!"

Hailing from the scalding city of Phoenix, Ekonovah's distinct take on house music is just as scorching as a blazing Arizona summer. With performances at leading venues and festivals like Bonnaroo and EDC Las Vegas, Ekonovah's flame is only getting brighter.

Rico & Miella Make Dance-Pop Magic with "Good Girl"

"Good Girl" is the latest addition to Rico & Miella's impressive discography.

With festival season fast approaching, Rico & Miella have delivered a dance-pop anthem that evokes mental imagery of summertime festivities. "Good Girl" builds upon their long, illustrious history as multi-faceted musicians with a sound that will perfectly compliment all the memories we have yet to make.

Miella's sensuous vocals capture the listener's attention from the onset of the track, with soft production elements rounding out the rest of the arrangement. At the drop, however, they turn up the bounce. Between vivacious horns and airy vocal chops, the central motif of the track will stay in your head long after you listen to it.

In a joint statement on "Good Girl," Rico & Miella said:

"We really wanted to challenge ourselves and step outside of our comfort zone when we started working on 'Good Girl.' We’ve always loved writing complex and deeply emotional lyrics, and it can be a challenge to simplify without losing quality. In the end, we think we struck the right balance between catchy, clever, and memorable. On the production side, we just kept pushing the record to fill all of sonic space until we created a wall of sound that was not only melodic but also equally impactful. Since this was one of only a handful of our solo releases, we really wanted to show off some of our skills in the studio."

Over the years Rico & Miella have collaborated with the likes of Seven Lions, Feenixpawl, KDrew, Thomas Gold, Paris & Simo and Trivecta in addition to scoring music for Baywatch. 25 million Spotify streams later, their music has found homes on Armada Music, Sony Music, Protocol Recordings and Revealed Recordings.

GRAVEDGR Raises Hell with Debut Album, 6 FEET UNDER

The masked mortician is back with an LP packed full of killer cuts.

One of the most mysterious and highly talked about figures in electronic music - GRAVEDGR - has emerged from the shadows to unleash his debut album, 6 FEET UNDER. The 14-track LP is packed to the brim with the rave-influenced hard trap sounds that the masked mortician has made his signature, sending us all to a most untimely grave.

The album, out now via Carnage’s Heavyweight Records, features a smattering of familiar favorites including the smash hit “RAMPAGE,” which put GRAVEDGR on the map in 2018. Dealing a lethal dose of nightmarish collaborations and boundary-shattering genre crossovers, the entire body of work hits like a shovel to the face and solidifies his rampant and ruthless reputation.

Looking at his attire, it doesn’t take much to conclude how GRAVEDGR got his name. However, there is much more to the story than the jet-black face mask, cloak, and bucket hat fans have come to fear and revere. As fate would have it, the deadly disc-jockey had the grave digging lifestyle thrust upon him in his adolescence when he worked in a graveyard with his father. Unearthing the final resting places for the dearly departed led to the inimitable aesthetic of the GRAVEDGR brand as we know it, oozing with authenticity and bloodlust in its ever fibre.
