Flume Joins Marching Band MEUTE for Live Rendition of "Rushing Back"

Flume showed off his skills as an instrumentalist.

Flume recently donned a marching band uniform and performed saxophone for a one-of-a-kind performance of "Rushing Back." It took place at the Studio Brussel Showcase, where Flume (real name Harley Edward Streten) performed live alongside MEUTE, a German marching band that has covered his work previously.

In 2018, MEUTE covered Streten's "You and Me" remix and achieved viral attention. The eleven-piece arrangement of brass and drum musicians made a powerful statement, so much so that evidently the group caught the attention of Streten himself.

In a new video published on Studio Brussel's YouTube account, MEUTE performs "Rushing Back" alongside the producer. Streten didn't hesitate to make the most of the performance and even took a solo on the saxophone in the process. The Sydney artist has been known to be a multi-instrumentalist, but up until this point his abilities on the saxophone had scarcely been captured.

Flume's original release of "Rushing Back" was released in late September and features Vera Blue.

Powerhouse Electronic Pop Duo Ming & Ping Unleash Bliss With "Heaven's Light"

Part of their forthcoming EP, Los Angeles November 2019, "Heaven's Light" showcases the best Ming & Ping have to offer.

Buckle up for the newest single from powerhouse electronic pop duo Ming & Ping, “Heaven’s Light.” A sparkling synth experience from their eclectic, three-track EP Los Angeles November 2019, “Heaven’s Light” is a journey of harmonic bliss with a captivating vocal and unique driving energy inspired by elements of classic sci-fi and new wave synth-pop.

When asked about the theme behind Los Angeles November 2019, Ming & Ping went cerebral, paying homage to the movie Blade Runner. “Heaven’s Light” is one of three scenes in a wide range of emotions that the EP illustrates—the human experience and the embracing of change is like the movement of music from build to drop, from one emotion to another.

They elaborated:

“We ask what it means to be alive and to be human. We celebrate life and love. And we mourn for when it must end too soon and all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. The message of the songs is that life and death, sadness and joy all come in cycles and that change is the only reliable thing. At first, there is confusion, then awakening and celebration, conflict and decay, and finally surrender. It is all to say that it's alright to feel it all”.

Asian-born, California-bred Ming & Ping have a rare arsenal of influence, with notes of vintage synths decorating an ever-changing soundscape that highlights their inspirational upbringing of muses such as Daft Punk, Giorgio Moroder, Pet Shop Boys, and New Order. Their live performances are known as The Ming & Ping Dynasty, and they've shared the stages on tour with Freezepop (Guitar Hero, Rock Band), Major Lazer, West Indian Girl, and Ultraviolet Sound (Katy Perry).

Boasting such a clearly cinematic sound, Ming & Ping have landed placements in numerous film and TV shows, as well as rocking promotional spots from major companies like Burton Snowboards, Bombardier Ski-Doo, Transworld Snowboarding, Oakley, CrossFit and Alliance Wakeboard, among others. Their onstage multimedia performances include live film projections, performers, and antics galore, taking their sonic odyssey to extrasensory heights.

Steve Aoki and Darren Criss Channel Beavis & Butthead in Video for "Crash Into Me" Cover

Steve Aoki and Darren Criss get animated in their "Crash Into Me" music video.

Steve Aoki and Darren Criss provide Beavis and Butthead-style commentary on their own music video. The two recently teamed up to cover Dave Matthews Band's "Crash Into Me." Now, their cover is the subject of a multi-layered visual accompaniment.

This summer Steve Aoki and Darren Criss wound up in each other's company. Despite coming from two very different backgrounds professionally, the two bonded over the classics. As an actor, songwriter and singer, Criss had a triple-threat background, but his project with Aoki would mark his foray into the electronic space.

Explaining how the cover came to be, Aoki commented, "Darren and I wanted to do something different and surprising out of the gate with our collaboration. We bonded over classics and this surely was one of them."

The joint cover was immediately well received, and has prompted Aoki and Criss to expand upon what they started. That now includes a music video and an additional festival-style remix from Aoki aptly titled "Settle Down Steavis Aoki Remix."

Watch an animated Steve Aoki and Darren Criss commentate on their own video as "Steavis and Butthead" here.

deadmau5 Announces Release Date of Long-Awaited Single, "Satrn"

A song that deadmau5 has played out for a year is finally slated for release.

It's almost been a year to the day since deadmau5 began incorporating a fan-favorite ID into his sets. The iconic DJ/producer and mau5trap label head has now shared that the single's title is "Satrn," and that it will arrive by way of his own imprint this Friday, November 15th.

Bright, ambient-inspired chords set "Satrn" apart from other deadmau5 (real name Joel Zimmerman) releases. Seeing as how Zimmerman has remained relatively quiet on the release front in 2019, the announcement might give fans hope for more to come.

Zimmerman's 2008 effort Random Album Title established him as a household name in the electronic music world and beyond. His follow-up album, For Lack of a Better Name, further cemented his legacy with memorable singles like "Ghosts 'n' Stuff," "Strobe" and "Hi Friend."

Meanwhile, Zimmerman will continue the cube v3 tour with a performance at Revention Music Center in Houston, Texas on Thursday, November 14th.

Moby Follows Up Neck Tattoo with "ANIMAL RIGHTS" Arm Tattoos

Moby got the tattoos to celebrate his 32nd anniversary of becoming vegan.

It will be difficult for Moby to raise the bar on his recent "VEGAN FOR LIFE" neck tattoo, but his latest piece of body art comes close. The singer/songwriter and composer now has the words "ANIMAL RIGHTS" permanently written in a large font across his arms.

"As November is my 32 year vegan anniversary i thought i’d get a tattoo (well, technically 12 tattoos) to celebrate," Moby (real name Richard Melville Hall) wrote in an Instagram post. "I’m a vegan animal rights activist for many reasons, but ultimately because i believe at the core of my being that every animal has the right to live their own life, according to their own will."

As with his last tattoo, celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D (real name Katherine Von Drachenberg) was tasked with the body modification.

Moby has yet to announce a follow-up album to Long Ambients 2, his latest album which came out in March of this year.

Alison Wonderland Drops Edit of Flume's "Rushing Back" ft. Vera Blue at EDC Orlando 2019

EDC Orlando attendees were treated to Alison Wonderland's rendition of Flume's recent single.

It appears Alison Wonderland may be making new music debuts an annual EDC Orlando tradition. The Australian DJ/producer dropped an Ariana Grande flip and a Dillon Francis collab at the 2018 edition. This year, she unleashed an edit of Flume's "Rushing Back."

In a video clip shared by Alison Wonderland (real name Alexandra Sholler) via social media, Vera Blue's unforgettable vocal can be heard loud and clear. The drop, however, is Sholler's single "Okay," which appeared on her 2018 album, Awake.

Sholler quickly became a favorite among EDM fans in the wake of her 2015 album, Run. In the years since, she's reached international audiences with billings at world-class festivals like EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland and Electric Forest.

On Saturday, November 16th, Sholler will kick off her Wonderland Warehouse Party Worldwide event series with a sold-out event in Los Angeles. For information on other events in the series, visit the official website.

EDC Orlando 2019 Attendee Allegedly Steals at Least 34 Phones on Day 3

Police say Carlos Perez-Hernandez pickpocketed more than $20,000 worth of phones.

Pickpocketing has run rampant throughout the festival circuit as of late, and the 2019 edition of EDC Orlando was apparently no exception. According to authorities, one man is suspected of stealing at least 34 phones valued at over $20,000 on Sunday, November 10th.

Carlos Perez-Hernandez

Police apprehended Carlos Perez-Hernandez after festivalgoers told them that a man in a tie-dyed hoodie was taking people's phones from their pockets near the Kinetic Field stage. Perez-Hernandez allegedly told them he didn't know how many phones he had but they all belonged to him.

Authorities say all the phones had been set to airplane mode so that their owners could not track them. Of the 34 phones, they could only identify the owners of three of them and are holding onto the rest as evidence.

A spokesperson on behalf of EDC Orlando was not immediately available to respond to EDM.com's request for comment.
