Airmow and Ethan Uno Deliver Midtempo Masterpiece "Nobody Knows"

In this cinematic synth-pop hybrid on CloudKid, Airmow has broken new ground.

Inspired by artists such as The Weeknd, Justice and Daft Punk, rising producer Airmow has blessed us with a cinematic synth-pop hybrid the likes of which we’ve never heard before. Flexing his signature, organic sound alongside the incredible vocal stylings of Ethan Uno, Airmow delivers an unforgettable dance floor hit that thrusts listeners joyfully into the new decade.

“The bassline was created with a lot of organic synth sounds that I recorded and designed myself," Airmow said. "For example, I created one of the ‘crunchy’ sounds using my mouth. This type of creativity in the studio is exactly what gives such a distinguishable character to Airmow’s work, especially when combined with Uno's catchy and memorable approach.

“I aspire to create catchy melodies and unforgettable lines with the intention of capturing the listener's attention as quickly as possible," he continued. "This song pertains to the feeling of falling in love. The hook cements the theme of the track by emphasizing the euphoric feeling one gets from the connection; a feeling that 'Nobody Knows."

In his highly anticipated return to Insomniac Records, house music head chef Born Dirty has us dancing into the new decade with a two-sided release bursting with funk and flavor. Duck Sauce Make their Triumphant Return with "Smiley Face"

Six years later, the iconic duo are back to put a smile on our face

The decade began with a bang after news broke that Duck Sauce A-Trak and Armand Van Helden's nu-disco side project - would be releasing new music after a nearly six-year hiatus. It wasn't until this week that fans received a due date for their first single, "Smiley Face." Now out for all to enjoy, the single has burst onto the scene ready to brighten up your day.

"Smiley Face" gives you exactly what its title suggests. It's filled with an infectious funky beat and an uplifting vocal chop proclaiming listeners to "make someone feel happy."  The duo brought all the soul to this production, creating the perfect dance floor anthem for 2020. They are here to let fans know that just because they've been gone for six years does not mean they've lost any of their pizazz. Disco is alive and well.

When A-Trak (real name Alain Macklovitch) and van Helden joined forces back in 2010 with the release of "Barbara Streisand," they put EDM on a brand new trajectory. The single topped the Billboard charts and became one of the first commercial electronic tracks to be nominated for a Grammy Award. The excitement that these two are back in the studio is palpable, and we can't wait to hear what else they deliver this year.

For those wishing to catch the duo live and in person, they will be performing the 2020 editions of Coachella Music & Arts Festival and Tomorrowland.

Moody Good Enlists Kill The Noise, TYNAN, and More to Remix Goofball EP

These remixes are insane.

Moody Good (real name Eddie Jefferys) has asked a handful of talented bass music producers to remix his Goofball EP.

Jefferys did a wonderful job at picking the talent for this package, as each artists unique skill set can be heard throughout each remix. Kill The Noise has reworked "SIXTYSIXTY" into an even wilder ride than the original, while Kompany has added his own flair into "Squeeky Clean." TYNAN's remix of "ANTI-ACID" is a minimalistic trip that gives the track a bit of jump. Ookay also continues his return to bass music on the remix EP with his rendition of "Jimmytics."

Jeffreys consistently receives praise from fans and critics alike, as his skills as a producer seem to jump further and further with each release. He ended 2019 on a high note, announcing a nationwide tour as well as released his collaboration with Leotrix, "Crackshot."

Porter Robinson Weighs In on the Debate Around Bootleg Remixes

Robinson wants everyone to know he appreciates the remixes

Bootleg remixes (A.K.A. unofficial remixes) are anything but new. While many may think this is nothing more than bandwagoning off the success of others, Porter Robinson is here to share that he supports the artists who choose to do so.

The discussion stemmed from an Instagram story Robinson posted after a producer on Twitter released a Jersey club edit of his track "Get Your Wish" a mere 24hrs after its release.  Instead of knocking this artist for riding his coattails, he asked for his fans to support those who clearly see the beauty in the track just as they do.

It's refreshing to see artists uplifting each other versus tearing them down, especially when it's a producer of Robinson's caliber. A major sentiment he expressed during the making of "Get Your Wish" is the power music has to inspire others. It would be unfair to discredit those who were clearly channeling this inspiration, as he sees it.

NGHTMRE and SLANDER Tease New Collab, "Feeling Gud"

This is their first official collaboration since 2016.

NGHTMRE (real name Tyler Marenyi) and SLANDER (real names Derek Andersen and Scott Land) have been continuously teasing their new collaboration, "Feeling Gud."

Over the past few days, the longtime collaborators have been teasing the new track over social media. Most recently, they've uploaded audio of the track for the first time. In usual Gud Vibrations fashion, they've stuck to a laid-back route sampling Nina Simone's classic tune "Feeling Good." While there's no official release date yet, fans should take the announcement as a sign that the tune will be out shortly.

Marenyi, Andersen, and Land's careers have blossomed since releasing their collaborative Gud Vibrations EP in 2016. Together, they've played some of the most notable festivals including Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, and Tomorrowland. Last year, they embarked on their nationwide Alchemy tour alongside Seven Lions and The Glitch Mob

Marenyi recently released a collaboration with Gunna entitled "CASH COW" as well as "Bruises" with Grabbitz. Andersen and Land have also been busy, as they recently released a remix package for their hit "Love Is Gone" as well as "Heart Break" with Moody Good.

San Holo Debuts Beautifully "Honest" Single ft. Broods

The new single and video are out now via Astralwerks.

It's hard to have a bad day after a San Holo song drops. Since word broke that the Dutch artist would be releasing new music this week with none other than the melodic sibling duo Broods, the fandom has gone wild with anticipation. The wait is over; "Honest" is here and it does not disappoint.

The production is as pure as the lyrics project. One thing listeners can always count on from San Holo (real name Sander van Dijk) is vulnerability in his music. The need to deliver his most authentic self is why fans love him so much, but it also comes with the burden of perfectionism.

In an interview with Billboard van Dijk explained that he went back and forth trying to make the track sound "as ‘radio-friendly’ as possible, even though I always loved the very first original version which I had started calling the ‘ugly drop.’" In the end, he realized he needed to stay honest with himself and stick with what made the song special. It took three years to come to this realization.

The track finally took form once Brood's Georgia Nott and van Dijk's co-writers, Kyle Shearer and Nate Campany, joined in. The official video, directed by Mason Thorne, features both van Dijk and Nott in a hyper-artificial setting juxtaposing the intimacy of the single.

van Dijk is currently gearing up to debut his live band for a special one-off show at San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on March 21st. "Honest" follows his latest release, "Lost Lately," which came out last summer. Since then, we've only heard sneak peeks into collaborations including a track with What So Not and potentially one with Louis the Child

The New Zealand siblings known as Broods have been making waves since their 2013 debut. They've toured the world with everyone from Ellie Goulding, Haim and Sam Smith to Taylor Swift. They are now getting ready to perform alongside Tove Lo for a pair of West Coast shows beginning in February.

Bensley Remixes Delta Heavy's "Collide" ft. Rae Hall

The remix is part of Delta Heavy's 24-track album, Only In Dreams Remixes.

Delta Heavy (comprised of Ben Hall and Simon James) released their second album, Only In Dreams, back in March 2019. The 11-track EP was well received and the duo have since been touring and performing around the world. Now, they've just released the Only In Dreams Remixes, complete with 24 brand-new remixes of songs from the original album.

Toronto-based DJ/producer Bensley (real name Peter Bennett) is fresh off the release of his sophomore album, Muskoka, and he has contributed a remix for the new album. Taking on "Collide" featuring Rae Hall, Bennett contributes his unique and forward-thinking production to the slew of Only In Dreams Remixes

Bennett's remix of "Collide" showcases his talent effectively, taking the original from melodic dubstep to a heavily dance floor-oriented drum and bass tune. The main melody is just as effective at 174 bpm, giving the track an uplifting energy that's carried well by Hall's vocals.

At the second drop, a halftime beat kicks in with Bennett's skillful touch, calling back to the original while maintaining the vivacity of the remix. Overall, the Bensley remix complements the original version of "Collide" well, and is a standout of Only In Dreams Remixes

Delta Heavy's Only In Dreams Remixes, including "Collide" featuring Rae Hall (Bensley Remix), is out now via RAM Records and can be found at this link.

PhaseOne Drops Volume 1 of Annual Mix, The Sounds Of Mayhem

The hourlong mix is chock-full of heavy dubstep and metal.

When it comes to the fusion of heavy bass music with metal, there is perhaps no DJ/producer quite like PhaseOne (real name Graeme Duffy). His recent album, TRANSCENDENCY did exactly that; there wasn't a single style on the release, but rather an expertly blended fusion that transcended genre.

Continuing to expand on and innovate this unique sound, Duffy has been releasing singles and collaborations since the release of TRANSCENDENCY. Headbangers have been waiting patiently for even more from him, and now the Sydney native has just released an hourlong mix chock full of relentless heavy hitters.

View the original article to see embedded media.

The Sounds Of Mayhem, Vol. 1 is the first installment from a brand-new annual mix series from Duffy, released today and first shared in his private Facebook group, PhaseOne's Mayhem Squad. Within an hour, the mix already racked up over a thousand plays. At 100,000 plays, Duffy will release the full tracklist for the mix.

Some familiar sounds can be heard in Sounds Of Mayhem, including many tracks from TRANSCENDENCY, both original and reworked. A brand-new metal version of Duffy's collaboration with fellow Aussie metalcore outfit Northlane, "Crash & Burn," his team up with djent pioneers Periphery, "Digital," and many other singles from the album are included.

Metal heads will recognize sounds from Killswitch Engage and Slipknot, among many others. Also included are a stack of IDs, so fans will be eager to see the full track list once the mix reaches 100,000 plays.

The Sounds Of Mayhem, Vol. 1 is a powerful, hourlong journey for fans of all things heavy that will certainly be enjoyed by bass heads and metal diehards alike. Sure to get a mosh pit started, Mayhem is essential listening for those looking to rage.

Insomniac’s Bassrush Records Recruits Esseks, FRQ NCY, Eazybaked and More on Heavy Bass Compilation, The Prophecy: Volume 1

Sfam, G-Space and Mystic Grizzly joined forces on a collaboration as well.

Bassrush Records has continued its trendy infatuation with alternative bass music by releasing its latest compilation project, The Prophecy: Volume 1.

In 2019, Bassrush — Insomniac Records’ bass-enthused sub-brand — pushed more of this heavy bass style than ever before, dishing out tracks from the likes of Champagne Drip, Eliminate and SubDocta. With this new release, the label dug even deeper in recruiting underground talent who collectively deliver the best of their respective sounds.

The project kicks off with Brooklyn-producer Esseks, a regular of the Wakaan label. The xylophone-like beat feels crisp and dancy, but it rips open a new dimension of sound and staticky bass at its first drop. From here the project digresses into even heavier sounds, cueing up Envision Arts South’s duo EAZYBAKED to conjure a hellish, gurgling tune that helps settle in the darker aesthetic used by the other artists on the compilation.

Jersey’s Shanghai Doom make an appearance on “Coconut,” while Florida acts Mystic Grizzly and G-Space team up with sfam on “It Never Ends.” Up-and-coming bass act FRQ NCY is responsible for one of the project's more satisfying submissions with “Rubber Band.” The track opens with an acid scratch opening reminiscent of G Jones (for whom he recently opened in NYC), and the ATL-based FRQ NCY delivers the high frequency "wubs" and riveting production that has helped his quick rise.

Groove Cruise Miami Gives Back with Whet Foundation Initiatives

The festival's founder used the trip as an opportunity to thank their host stopover communities.

Groove Cruise Miami 2020 kicked off its 16th edition on January 9th and landed two days later in Costa Maya on the Caribbean coast of Mexico. Upon arrival, a group of 57 attendees took a break from the festival's booming bass and tequila tastings to visit the Casa de la Cultura de Mahahual, a community center located in nearby Mahahual.

The remote town is home of the popular Caribbean cruise ship port at Costa Maya and frequently hosts the guests that accompany them. This time, Groove Cruise decided to say thank you in a more personal way.

The Whet Foundation, established by the festival's creator and CEO Jason Beukema, provides opportunities for show attendees to give back by volunteering in their destination host communities. Volunteers deliver clothing, food and school supply donations, participate in beach and community cleanups, and teach painting and art programs. This year, DJs Lavelle Dupree and Mike Hovsepian stepped up as well, handing out popsicles and cleaning up an abandoned construction dump site to make way for a new donated playground.

In a press release, Beukema said volunteers on their way back to the ship were thanked by a man working the daytime beach party where Above & Beyond headlined. "He was overcome with emotion and said, 'No one every thinks about us, so thank you," Beukema said.

This year, Groove Cruise attendees could also partake in the Foundation's effort onboard through donate-to-enter activities during the day on the ship. Highlights included kickboxing with Yaya and a meditation session with Emma Hewitt

Headed to Puerto Plata for Groove Cruise Miami 2021, Beukema said he hopes to partner with local organizations once they arrive. The Foundation manages to stay in touch with its communities as well, fundraising for Hurricane Dorian recovery in the Bahamas - where the ship has sailed several times - and they're considering returning to Costa Mesa.

"The Whet Foundation is a way to thank the communities where Whet Travel visits, and to leave the destinations better than when we arrived," Beukema said.

15-Year-Old Producer Benjamin Bogart Makes a Statement with Bass House EP, Cruise Control

The award-winning teenage producer has unleashed a pair high-speed bass house tunes.

At the age of 15, most of us spent our days playing video games and learning how to drive. Benjamin Bogart is not your average teenager. On the heels of his EP, Mineral, which arrived last summer, comes the latest from the young producer, Cruise Control

Releasing it via 3000 Bass, Bogart has showcased the impressive bass house sound he's been developing much of his life. While he's explored tech and deep house in the past, he's undoubtedly hit his stride on the bass-heavy end of the house music spectrum.

On the featured single from which the EP gets its name, the Dutch Under 18 DJ Award winner joined forces with Dread MC. With both artists' talents on full display, the end result is a dance floor-igniting bass house anthem absolutely dripping with style. The infectious bass line is emphasized by the catchy vocals, making for a listening experience similar to driving a sports car on the highway.

The companion track, "Bring It Back," goes lighter on vocals but features the same level of sharp production fans of Bogart have come to adore. Twinkling bells introduce listeners to the tune before an arpeggiating bass line hits, making it difficult to resist shuffling along to.

The Netherlands-based artist is prepared for his biggest year to date. Despite his young age, he's already performed at some of the biggest clubs in his country - and even to the Royal Navy after he remixed a 100-year-old traditional Dutch song. Since he was nine years old he's been practicing his craft, and from the looks of it the young artist shows no signs of slowing down.

Cruise Control by Benjamin Bogart is out now. You can stream or download the EP via 3000 Bass here.

Insomniac is Suing USC Events, Wants to Host its Own Event at the Gorge Amphitheatre

USC Events' nonpayment issues have landed them in Insomniac's crosshairs.

Months after EDM.com brought Seattle promoter USC Events' history of nonpayment to light, one of the world's biggest rave promoters has taken legal action against them. Insomniac has filed a lawsuit against USC's parent company, Conscious Entertainment Group, and its CEO, Chad Anderson, for alleged misuse of funds during their partnership on Paradiso Festival.

The complaint claims that Insomniac advanced over $2 million to USC so that the company had ample cash flow for payments to vendors. On June 14th, the first day of the event, Anderson informed Insomniac that USC had not paid the funds to their intended recipients.

Insomniac was later forced to pay artist fees to the tune of $215,055 to Paradigm Talent Agency and $638,650 to United Talent Agency. Vendors like Just Right Productions and LMG also contacted Insomniac to inquire about the amounts owed to them ($29,000 and $176,000, respectively). USC has failed to adequately explain what happened to the advance payments, according to the suit.

"Chad is the literal king of gaslighting and manipulation and had us thinking Insomniac was just fucking us over," a previous USC employee told EDM.com. "To us, they were the ones drawing out the process and we had no idea, so this is all new information to me too ... I was told we were waiting for the settlement to pay the upset vendors. I didn’t know any better, but now that I do I’m even more pissed than I was."

According to the complaint, USC has begun promoting the 2020 edition of Paradiso. Their alleged breach of contract led Insomniac to terminate their agreement, however, forbidding them from use the Paradiso name or trademark.

Insomniac also included a silver lining for Seattle music fans in the suit: They plan to host their own event where Paradiso is held independently of USC. "Insomniac wishes to promote an electronic dance music event at the Gorge Amphitheatre this summer without USC's involvement, and seeks judicial confirmation that Insomniac is no longer bound by the non-compete obligation because the Agreement has been terminated," reads a passage.

The amount for which Insomniac intends to hold USC liable has not been specified, nor has the former promoter provided additional details for their upcoming event at the Gorge. EDM.com's requests for comment have not been met with a response from either company at the time of writing.

Elon Musk Changes Twitter Handle to E "D" M, Shares Song "Don't Doubt ur Vibe"

Elon Musk likes to keep people guessing.

It's hard not to chuckle at the social media shenanigans of Tesla founder Elon Musk, and electronic music fans in particular ought to appreciate his latest gag. After a day of bizarre Twitter activity, he shared a SoundCloud upload of a song he wrote titled "Don't Doubt ur Vibe."

Musk alluded to the song throughout the day, changing his Twitter display name to "E 'D' M" and tweeting photos of himself in a studio before sharing it. Although it's clearly a tongue-in-cheek stunt, the vaguely trance-reminiscent melodies of "Don't Doubt ur Vibe" seem to have been produced by someone who knows their way around a DAW. Musk only took credit for writing the lyrics and performing the vocals.

Trolling aside, Musk has found himself the subject of speculation for other reasons as of late. Canadian singer/songwriter Grimes recently went to NSFW lengths to announce her pregnancy, and their on-again-off-again relationship leads many to believe the child belongs to him.

Musk shared the song through a SoundCloud account called Emo G Records, which he used to upload an equally humorous hip-hop song titled "RIP Harambe" the better part of a year ago. It remains to be seen whether he'll put out more music on the farcical record label.

Coming up this weekend, the 13th annual Gem & Jam Festival descends on Tucson, Arizona in the perfect marriage of unbridled natural energy and the sweet, explosive ecstasy of some of the world's best dance music. Preparing for all the wonder in this dusty intimate gathering is a difficult task if you don’t know what to expect. Naturally, EDM.com is on the case with all the must-know info.

World-Class Dance Music

Topping the bill, psychedelic acts like Tipper, Twiddle and Manic Focus are sure to serve up the sensational bass, undulating grooves, and memories aplenty. Those three are enough reason to go for bass music fans.

The three fully-equipped stages also have enlisted Big Gigantic, Balkan Bump, and The Floozies for a bit of instrumental thunder. Turning heads this year, the festival has also organized a historic Grateful Dead tribute band featuring all-star dynamos like Michael Travis, Jason Hann, Eric Krasno, Mihali Savoulidis, Reed MathisTodd Stoops, Michal Menert, and Pink Talking Fish

On the other end of the top shelf is Dirtybird’s legendary Christian Martin, and a full-fledged Desert Hearts' takeover will ensue with Mikey Lion, Marbs, Rybo and Lubelski. This particular blend of Desert Hearts characters should catch many who think they know the label by surprise. In fact, it will likely be water in the desert for those who are thirsty for fun, trippy, spacey house and techno. The curation leans toward hard-hitting, heady acts that, between visuals and sonic textures, don enough force to make a sober face melt. Throw some of nature's glitter in there and boom: You’ve got Gem & Jam.

“We’re super excited to play Gem & Jam this weekend,” said Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic. “We just released a single called 'Burning Love' featuring Kidepo on January 14th, and we have a new album - Free Your Mind - coming out the 28th, so I’d say the thing we’re most excited for this weekend is just the opportunity to play a lot of the new tunes live!”

Rockin’ Gemstones

Further distinguishing Gem & Jam from other events in the woke milieu is its namesake Gem market. The market is a must even if you’re broke. Glistening with wares from a local Gem show in Tucson (without the Jam), which attracts collectors and purveyors from around the world, no other festival taps into as much in the way of minerals as Gem & Jam.

For those who find healing, focus or some other benefit in a rare stone, this festival is a must not miss. Even if you’re only sold on the aesthetic, it’s difficult not to find an attractive fossil or mysterious opal hoping to post up on your desk on Monday. Perusing the shops is a great way to explore the lore that festies and mystics often attach to rare minerals.

Turnkey Camping Aids Local Relief Effort

The Ready Set Camping option offers a ton of arranged comfort, like high-grade tents made of a composite fabric purported to keep the chill at bay in the evening and the cool inside in the sun. The package includes an inflatable mattress, bedding, furniture and a space heater which can be run inside your tent because each one has a hot power strip to run and charge devices.

Where the aforementioned Ready Set Camping package is geared for luxury, the Camping Bundle is clearly for expedience on a budget. It includes a two-person tent, a couple of flashlights, pillows, sleeping bags, and an inflatable mattress. After the weekend, all the camping supplies that are still in good, working order are then donated to a local organization, Youth On Their Own. The inspiring non-profit directs a dropout prevention program and works to support the growing population of homeless youth in Pima County.

Art Stays Center Stage

Muralists and painters, stage designers and all manner of performer converge in pleasure and spectacle. For Gem & Jam, the physicality of gems become a template for the textures and colors you’ll find throughout the venue. From dazzling hues to glistening arrangements the collection of artists at the festival showcase a depth that stretches well beyond the blockbuster lineup billed for the event.

Gem & Jam Co-Producer Josh Pollack told EDM.com:

"The Gem & Jam experience is about the symbiotic relationship between music, art and gems. We pride ourselves on going big on our art offerings, whether it be live painters, art galleries, performance art, or interactive art installations - they're all meant to inspire with awe. That relationship influences every element of the experience that you just have to be there to fully understand. Also, keeping a diverse array of sounds and different genres is another important element, as we strive to keep our lineups fresh and featuring a healthy mix of musical styles. Building on that aspect, we intentionally put together a unique combination of artists that you won’t see anywhere else, in addition to special super jams featuring world-class musicians that debut at Gem & Jam."

Gorillaz Fuse Rock and Hip-Hop in "Momentary Bliss" ft. slowthai and Slaves for 1st Song Machine Episode

The first episode of Gorillaz Present: Song Machine is here.

Earlier in the week, Gorillaz shared a theme song for something called Song Machine. It has now come to light that the endeavor will be an episodic series highlighting the group's creative process around select pieces of music.

As you might expect, their cartoon avatars are along for the ride. Episode One depicts how a song titled "Momentary Bliss" featuring hip-hop emcee slowthai and post-hardcore band Slaves came together, with animations of the characters superimposed over the studio footage. A far cry from Gorillaz' eclectic style, the song encapsulates more of a fusion between rock and rap.

Perhaps best known for their 2000 smash hit, "Clint Eastwood," Gorillaz formed in 1998 as an audiovisual collaborative project between Damon Albarn and Jamie HewittRemi Kabaka Jr. - who has worked with the group since 2011 - was listed as an official member in the 2019 documentary, Gorillaz: Reject False Icons.

The release date for Episode Two of Song Machine has not been announced at the time of writing.

First Hardwell Interview in Two Years on Revealed Podcast

Hardwell talks about his sabbatical, the early days, and what's comes next.

In 2018, modern EDM legend Hardwell (real name Robbert van de Corput) announced his official retirement from live touring. Since then, he's been relatively quiet in the public eye. But now, van de Corput has sat down with his long time friend Domeno on the Revealed Podcast to speak out about what he's been up to as of late.

The hourlong interview covers a lot of ground. van de Corput speaks on everything from his early days coming up in the Dutch electronic dance music scene, to recent successes with his Revealed Recordings imprint.

Hardwell diehards are mostly wondering what the superstar DJ and producer has been up to during his break from world tours, however. His answer is simple: living his life. Taking the time to enjoy his family, hang out with friends, and have what some would call a "normal life," van de Corput says that his break was a much needed mental reset that's given him an opportunity to rediscover himself both musically and as a human being.

Also discussed in the interview are van de Corput's history and first big successes (beginning at the young age of 14), his idol and mentor TiĆ«sto, and the ever-evolving state of the dance music scene as a whole.

Hardwell has also been hard at work in the studio working on new music, as ever, and he spoke on how he's constantly trying to evolve his sound, but most importantly, create the music he loves.

There's no word yet on if or when van de Corput will return to touring, but fans are undoubtedly awaiting it eagerly.

Tycho Releases New Song, "Outer Sunset"

The single will be a part of Tycho's forthcoming album, Simulcast.

If there's one artist in the world of electronic music that's completely in tune with nature, it has to be Tycho. Illustrative of that are his recent app that generates musical playlists based on the weather, his recent album (also titled Weather), and now his new single, "Outer Sunset."

"Outer Sunset" is a dreamy, atmospheric track that's perfect for listening during an actual sunset. Tycho (real name Scott Hansen) has created a soundscape that's relaxing and entirely chilled out, with elements of synthwave, breaks, and a lovely guitar riff that carries the airy track all the way through. Keeping with the "weather" theme, Hansen's latest is a perfect addition to his extensive catalog.

The new single will be a part of Hansen's forthcoming album, Simulcast, to be released on February 28th via Mom + Pop Music/Ninja Tune. Preorders for the album can be placed here.

Hansen's previous album, Weather, was nominated for a GRAMMY Award alongside works from fellow electronic artists like Skrillex, Bonobo, Flume, and RƜFƜS DU SOL. Electronic veterans The Chemical Brothers ended up bagging the award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Song.

Gary Richards on EDC, HARD and Holy Ship!: "I Started Each One of these Events from Day One"

AMFAMFAMF's Gary Richards says that "One day the full story will be told."

The career of Southern California promoter Gary Richards appears to follow a pattern - one he recently decided to bring to light. The AMFAMFAMF founder and LiveStyle North America president shared a slide show of rave flyers, pointing out his seminal role in each event brand.

In an Instagram post consisting of multiple images, Richards touched on his founding role in several world-renowned parties. "Not gonna lie and no disrespect, I started each one of these events from day one - ground zero," he wrote. "One day the full story will be told."

Among the flyers was that of the original Electric Daisy Carnival, which Richards organized alongside Steve Kool Aid (real name Stephen Enos) from 1991-1993 - years before Pasquale Rotella threw an event of the same name in 1997. Rotella allegedly received verbal permission from Richards to use the brand for his own events, although a 2015 trademark suit by Richards would claim otherwise.

Also included in the image gallery were flyers for the inaugural HARD and Holy Ship!, which Richards organized in 2007 and 2012, respectively. Rotella's Insomniac now runs both events.

Richards recently performed a "Sunrise Sermon" set as DESTRUCTO on his recently launched cruise ship festival, FriendShip. He will kick off his Twisted Tour 2020 with a performance at Sound-Bar in Chicago, Illinois on February 7th.

Watch A-Trak Drop New Duck Sauce Song During What So Not B2B at MAKE IT RAIN

A-Trak and Armand Van Helden's upcoming single got test driven a couple days early.

What So Not was among the Australian artists billed for a bushfire relief benefit called MAKE IT RAIN on January 29th, and his set became ground zero for the debut of a highly anticipated track. A-Trak appeared for an impromptu B2B, and he dropped "Smiley Face," his and Armand Van Helden's upcoming single as Duck Sauce.

The as-yet-unreleased song's big, orchestral strings and soulful vocal samples can be recognized from Duck Sauce's 2020 return teaser video. The clip captured last night reveals a new motif, however, giving the song distinctly more classic house appeal.

Duck Sauce had been a fixture of the EDM decade following the 2010 release of their smash hit, "Barbara Streisand." They faded from the limelight sometime around 2014, although both members have commanded impactful careers in electronic music both before and after the project.

Outside of new music, Duck Sauce have been revealed as headliners for the 2020 edition of Coachella Music & Arts Festival. Meanwhile, "Smiley Face" is due out Friday, January 31st.

A.M.C Talks New Album, Touring and More [Interview]

The Titan Recordings boss recently won Best DJ at the Drum&BassArena awards.

Fresh off the release of his mammoth album, Energy, U.K drum and bass titan (and Titan Records head honcho) A.M.C is riding high on recent successes. In fact, A.M.C (real name Alex Mark Calvert) just took home Drum&BassArena's award for Best DJ in 2019. That's no small feat, as this honor was previously held by RAM Records boss Andy C for nine years running.

With the release of Energy and a subsequent tour, A.M.C took some time to speak with EDM.com about what's been happening with him recently, and how he got here. Read on to see what he had to say.

EDM.com: It seems that the new album is getting plays everywhere. How has the response to Energy been from your perspective?

A.M.C: I've been very pleased with the reaction to the Energy LP. It seemed to appeal to all corners of the scene, which I was most pleased about as that represents how I play in my sets. It came 3rd in the best album category at last year’s Drum&BassArena awards and has had over 600,000 plays on Spotify, so I’d say it was a success.

Your recent tour has also popped off across Europe and the States. What was the most memorable show you played on tour?

There were so many, but I'd have to say the headline show at Fabric in London was my most memorable. I used to go to that club as a raver years ago, and to then be on stage in room one with a packed house in front of me was a crazy feeling. I cannot wait for the next Energy show in London - that's going to be bigger and better, at E1 on March 20th 2020.

With the #DNB2020 and #USDNB movements, there's been some recent buzz stateside about the popularity of drum and bass spiking in North America. What do you think is the key to making the genre as popular in the United States as it is in Europe?

That's a tricky one as I don’t think there's an easy answer to a music genre's popularity in a specific territory. I guess it’s a combination of things that can cause a wave of support for DnB in the states. First, the music has to appeal to the younger generations of ravers out there. Second, there must be homegrown talent pushing the sound internally - which has been happening for years, but seems to have kicked up a gear since the arrival of people like Flite, etc.

The main thing, however, is the first point; it must appeal to a younger generation. I spoke to a friend of mine in the states who’s been running events there for over 20 years. He said DnB was very popular back in the day, but it wasn’t as inviting as other genres, so there were about two to three generations of DnB lost to other genres like dubstep. Things have changed a lot since then, and the music and scene is a lot more attractive and engaging. So, in my opinion it's only a matter of time until it really does pop stateside.

You won Best Newcomer DJ in 2011, and recently won Best DJ at the Drum&BassArena Awards. How does it feel to dethrone Andy C from his nine-year run?

Yeah, it only took me almost a decade of hard work to get from one award to the other. Honestly, though, I was more happy for the fans that have been supporting me for all these years and wanting this to happen. Without them none of what I do would be possible, so I owe them an incredible amount of gratitude.

Do you take inspiration from anywhere outside of electronic music? What are your favorite genres to explore outside of drum and bass?

100% - I listen to all sorts of weird and crazy stuff. I listen to loads of hip-hop, especially the older stuff as it's a great source of inspiration thanks to all the samples found and used. Jazz music is also a firm favorite, along with classical music. Weird stuff I listen to are things like obscure film soundtracks - in fact, I’m really into film scores in general. Lo-fi hip-hop, chillout orchestral, '60/'70s rock, nu-metal, soul, funk, '80s electro, and some of the strangest bands who play genres I don’t even think people have names for.

You're a technical wizard on the decks. What's your favorite/most effective double drop as of recent?

You know I've never even been asked this question, ever. Blimey… there's so many! I guess it's a new tune I wrote for NYE currently called “One,” a new Teddy Killerz dub teased over the top I can’t name, and Turno’s amazing remix of my tune “Mind The Gap.”

After the success of Energy, do you have plans for another album in the future?

It’s funny, I was thinking about this the other day because there's a load that never made the cut for the first album that I’ve since fixed, and I've also had a bit of a buzz in the studio recently and have written about eight other tracks. The problem is they really don’t all go well together, so I don’t think there's another LP on the horizon. There are loads to be released from me this year anyway. A remix I’ve done of “Gunshot” by K Motionz is out at the end of January, then there's a project with me and Phantom (my MC), remixes from the Energy LP featuring Turno, Teddy Killerz, K Motionz, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Prolix, and then some singles of things that never made the LP, too. It's going to be a busy year.

E: What's your take on albums vs. single releases in the modern world of electronic music streaming?

It depends who you are, what your style is, what label it’s released on, and what's normal for your fan base. There's a lot that can change a perspective when it comes to your question.

In my opinion, albums that are suddenly released don’t work as well as one that is dragged out with samplers. The first sampler for Energy came out in March 2019, and the full album wasn’t out until September, with four other singles in between. It allowed us a full range of marketing support and made sure the strongest tunes got the attention they each deserved. That worked for me and it might not work for others, however. Whether I’ll do that again for the next project I’m not sure, but the response from Energy was so good it's a possibility.

What comes next for drum and bass' Best DJ?

It's all about the biggest ENERGY event I've ever done in the world at E1 in London. We’ve got something real special planned for that it I can’t say yet, but I’ll be there doing a three-hour set along with Zinc, Phace, Simula, Phantom and more. After that I’ve got loads of tours planned around the world. Cheers!

Hyphee & Turbulentz Team Up on Trap Banger "Tenxion"

The new single was released via Nectar Collective.

Mississippi DJ/producer Hyphee (real name Walter Pennington) has been hard at work in the studio producing some of the most forward-thinking trap music in recent years. Now, he's teamed up with fellow producer Turbulentz (real name Justin Buckalew) for a new single called "Tenxion."

The aptly titled "Tenxion" builds suspense with a hip-hop influenced introduction, complete with chopped and screwed rap verses as the 808 snares begin rattling into an energetic buildup. When the drop hits, all hell breaks loose as an intense, stuttering synth stimulates the eardrums.

View the original article to see embedded media.

Clever sound design and relentless percussion power the main sections of "Tenxion." Hyphee and Turbulentz draw influence from hip-hop, dubstep, and even juke. They merge the three for an innovative soundscape that's inventive and novel, but still very much at home within the realm of trap music in 2020.

Pennington recently performed at Republic in New Orleans alongside Party Favor on the Layers Envisioned Tour. Buckalew is fresh off of a new single titled "Rage," and he recently collaborated with Hyphee on another single, "Light Up." The duo have previously collaborated on other releases as well.

"Tenxion" is available now via Nectar Collective and can be found at this link

Alesso, Seven Lions and More Added to Phoenix Lights' 2020 Lineup

The April festival released its second wave of artist announcements for its sixth edition.

Phoenix, a rising EDM hotspot, is turning up the (dry) heat this spring with its second wave of artist announcements for annual festival Phoenix Lights. Produced by Relentless Beats, the state's largest electronic producer and promoter, the event will take place April 3rd and 4th.

Adding to an already impressive limited release of artists including Afrojack and NGHTMRE, this second round's highlights include Dr. Fresch, Alesso, Gryffin, Seven Lions and Borgore. With more announcements still to come, Phoenix Lights is stacking up an impressive list of performers.

Now in its sixth edition, Phoenix Lights is known for bringing a deep lineup of hot producers. Last year's main stage headliners were Kaskade and Excision, with additional performances from Big Gigantic, Party Favor, Claude VonStroke, GRiZ and Malaa.

With this festival hosted at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler Arizona, Relentless Beats has been slowly building the EDM scene across the city. Other events include Decadence Arizona, a spinoff of the original Colorado New Year's Eve festival, and Goldrush Music Festival, headlined this past year by ZHU and Alison Wonderland

Martin Jensen Puts a Club Flip on Kid Cudi's "Day 'N' Nite"

The Danish DJ paired up with Stefy De Cicco and Ben Hamilton for the remix, released through Universal Germany.

Known for his 2016 smash single "Solo Dance," Dutch DJ Martin Jensen has released the latest in a string of collaborations with producer Stefy de Cicco and vocalist Ben Hamilton. Out through Universal Germany, the track is a deep house remix of Kid Cudi's legendary "Day 'N' Nite."

The flip overlays Hamilton's soulful vocal tone over a hypnotic house beat. Its clubby bass line is characteristic of de Cicco, blending seamlessly with Jensen's modern, upbeat sound to put a flavorful dance twist on Kid Cudi's original.

View the original article to see embedded media.

Jensen and de Cicco have previously collaborated, producing a fast-paced mix of ZHU's "Faded" and an original track, "La Passion," featuring vocals from Hamilton. Their latest release fits in with the string of singles, lending credence to their ability to add house flavor to beloved tracks.

“It was quite the honor to get to work on this record and doing my own personal take on such a classic," Jensen said in a press release. "It’s always interesting to see how two worlds combine and whether they work together or not.''

For Jensen, who typically produces tropical house and future bass, the "Day 'N' Nite" remix shows his versatility. Since breaking out in 2014, he's been a permanent figure on the DJ Mag Top 100, rising to #45 in 2019. Successful, pop-focused singles include 2017's "Middle of the Night" with British boy band The Vamps and a 2018 remix of "Girls" by Rita Ora, Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX

Bayfront Park Got a Green Makeover Right in Time for Ultra and the Super Bowl

The FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park now has 500 solar panels

Miami is a city the masses flock to for entertainment. With that comes a discussion on the impact these events have on the environment, however. One hub looking to make a major environmental cleanup is the historic Bayfront Park. In December of 2019, it was announced that Bayfront Trust Management, the city of Miami, and Florida Power & Light (FPL) would partner to give the park a "green makeover." The venue is now ready, right in time for the Super Bowl LIV and Ultra Music Festival

The initiative called for FPL to install more than 500 solar panels to harness power for all the events held at the location. It is expected to generate more power than is typically needed for the average concert. It will also double as a research hub to test a new kind of solar technology that will produce energy on both sides of the panels. They feature new LED lights that have replaced the previous canopy structure and will light up the walkway in a range of colors.

Just last week word came in that Ultra finalized contracts for the festival's return to Bayfront Park. This came after a lengthy back-and-forth between organizers and lawmakers - as well as a lawsuit against the city by nearby residents. The four-count complaint issued by attorney Sam Dubbin on behalf of residents belonging to the Downtown Neighbors Alliance accused the city of violating its own charter, allowing an illegal nuisance, and disregarding its own bidding laws by allowing the event to take place. Ultra has been doing everything they can to appease the situation including the Mission: Home campaign.
